LoanLedger Privacy Policy
LoanLedger is a standalone, offline personal loan tracker, developed and published by Soundpitch Developers®. It is not a bank, lender, or financial institution, and it does not process payments. It simply helps you keep a private record of money you lend to or borrow from people you know.
Where your data lives
Every record you enter (people, loans, payments, installment plans, reminders) is stored only on this device, inside a database encrypted with AES-256. There is no server, no account, and no cloud sync. LoanLedger cannot see, collect, or transmit your data, because it has nowhere to send it to.
App lock (biometrics and PIN)
LoanLedger requires biometric (or device passcode / backup PIN) verification every time you open it, including right after installing or updating the app. That credential is used only to unlock this app on this device. Biometric data itself is handled entirely by your device's operating system: LoanLedger never receives or stores your fingerprint or face data, only a yes/no result and, for the backup PIN, a salted one-way hash.
Hiding amounts (manual and tilt)
You can hide all displayed amounts at any time by tapping the eye icon, or automatically by tilting the phone roughly 30° left or right if you turn on "Tilt to Hide Amounts" in Settings. That feature reads the device's gyroscope only while the app is open and unlocked, purely to detect this gesture. The reading is processed entirely on-device, is never stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere, and stops as soon as the app is backgrounded or locked. Revealing amounts again always requires biometric (or PIN) verification.
Audit log
LoanLedger keeps a local audit trail of when a loan or payment record is created, edited, or deleted, so you can review the history of changes to your own data. This log never leaves your device and is protected by the same on-device encryption as the rest of your data.
Contacts
If you tap "choose from contacts" when adding a loan, your phone's contact picker opens so you can choose one person. On Android the app never gets access to your contact list, only the contact you pick; on iPhone it asks for read-only contacts access first. Nothing is uploaded: the picked contact's details are copied once into your local database, the same as if you had typed them in yourself.
Location
If you tap "Detect from my location" during setup, the app reads your approximate location once to suggest your local currency. Your device's location service may look up the country using its own online service. The location is not stored, and this never happens in the background.
Photos
If you attach a receipt image to a loan, the app asks for access to your photo library to let you pick one picture. That image is copied into the app's private local storage and is never uploaded anywhere.
Reminders and notifications
Payment reminders, including per-installment reminders, are scheduled and delivered entirely on-device using your phone's own notification system. No reminder data leaves your device at any point.
Backups, statements and sharing
You can export a password-protected encrypted backup, or generate PDF/CSV statements, at any time. These files are created locally. If you choose to share one, by email, messaging app, cloud drive or otherwise, that transfer happens through your device's own share sheet and is governed by whichever app or service you pick, not by LoanLedger.
What LoanLedger does not do
It does not collect analytics, does not show ads, does not use third-party trackers, and does not sell or share your information with anyone. There is no mechanism in this app for any of that.
Your control over your data
You can erase everything stored by the app at any time from Settings → Erase All Data. This permanently deletes your local database and cannot be undone unless you made a backup first.
Children
LoanLedger is a general-purpose finance-tracking tool and is not directed at children.
Terms
Using LoanLedger also means you accept its Terms & Conditions, which cover the limits of what this app is responsible for, including that it is not a substitute for professional financial or legal advice, and that you are responsible for backing up your own data. You can review them any time from Settings in the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how the app handles your data, you will be asked to review and accept the updated version the next time you open the app.
